The next step

My mom went to the doctor this afternoon and didn't quite get the news we wanted. They said that they found cancerous tissue in the lymph node that was removed in surgery. It looks like chemo is going to be the next step. She will go back to the doctor in 2 weeks so he can make sure she is healing well and then she will meet with an oncologist to discuss all the options. I will let you know when I know more details.
We are asking for prayers for strength and courage through this process and that the chemo will work and she will get through this and be completely healed! We have a great almighty healer and I know He is with us and will guide my mom and all of us through this trial! I cannot say thank you enough for the prayers and support! Please keep them coming! :)

The many adventures of Sawyer Adam Wilks

I wanted to post some recent pictures of Sawyer. He is growing up so fast...I can't believe he will be 1 in 7 weeks! As you can see below, he had fun playing in the car the other day. He is starting to pull up to his knees and I think it is only a matter of time before he starts standing. His favorite thing to do right now is point to things and say "yah" all day long. He LOVES to play pat a cake and peek a boo. He starts with his new sitter on Thursday and I can't wait!

When we were at the hospital last week we went up to the baby ward and took a picture of Sawyer's picture that is on the wall there. It is so fun to step off the elevator and see our precious little wrinkly boy! :)

Sawyer can now ride on his rocking horse by himself and loves it so much! He looks like a little boy when he does it...not a baby anymore!!

One of Sawyer's favorite past times is pulling everything he can reach out of the pantry and playing with the containers. Here is a picture of him at work.

This picture was taken after he fought his nap for quite some time and finally gave it up and fell asleep trying to get out of his crib!




There is never a dull moment at our house now that Sawyer is in our lives and it is so great! :)

Surgery Went Well

My mom made it out of surgery yesterday and the doctor said, "everything went about as well as we could hope it to go." Those were very encouraging words. They had to remove one lymph node and they froze it and said it was negative, which I think is good news but I am not actually sure what it means. They sent off 3 tumors to be tested and then she will meet with an oncologist later this week to discuss the results and make a decision about treatment. From the looks of it the doctors thinks she was just in stage 1, which is very good news. The doctor seemed very positive and we are relieved that it is over. She is in a lot of pain, but seems to be doing fairly well otherwise. We are just praying for good pathology results and for her body and spirit to heal quickly. We cannot thank you enough for all the prayers...it is truly what has gotten through everything and she said that she could feel them yesterday and it gave her peace. Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Dearest Friends and Family,
On behalf of the Hancock family, I want to say thank you so very much for all the prayers, love and encouragement over the past week. The outpouring of responses has been so humbling and comforting. We appreciate each and every one of you more than you will ever know. My mom’s surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at noon at Skaggs in Branson. We are specifically praying that the surgery will go well without any complications and that the cancer has not spread to any other areas of her body. We are comforted by the knowledge that we have a mighty God that has a plan and told us that He would never give us more than we can handle. Our faith in Him will get us through this difficult trial. Thank you once again for everything. Please continue to pray for complete healing for my mom. I will send out another update after the surgery.

New Sitter

I interviewed a lady today and decided that I am going to move Sawyer out of his big daycare and into an in home daycare. There are only 4 kids (including Sawyer) at this place and the lady is so sweet and nurturing. We just felt that there are too many kids at his current place and this way he would get more attention and hopefully less germs! Plus the fact that it is $50 less a week is a good feature as well! I am just praying that I am making the right decision and that Sawyer adapts well to this change.

In light of the sad news that we received yesterday I thought it would be good for everyone to see a happy blog post. Here are a couple recent videos of Sawyer, jumping in his jump-a-roo and riding on his pony for the first time. He will be 1 in two months...I can't even believe it!

Surgery Scheduled

My mom's surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday at Skaggs in Branson. We are just praying that the cancer has not spread into any lymph nodes. If it has spread then she is looking at chemotherapy for the next year. If it has not spread then the surgery will get rid of it all. We are obviously praying for the second option. We all went out to dinner tonight and she seemed to be in good spirits. The grandkids sure do have a way of lifting everyone's spirits! Thank you all for your love, prayers, emails, and phone calls. We truly appreciate everything and ask that you keep praying. God is good and He will bring us through this time!

Please Pray

The Hancock family needs prayers right now. My mom found out today that both spots in her breast were full of cancer. They will do surgery to remove the breast and they will know more once they get in to find out if it has spread. Please pray that it is contained to the breast and that they can remove it all! Please pray for my mom and dad as this has hit them hard!

Good News and Prayer Request

Good news...Sawyer is feeling much better and seems to back to his normal self!! Yippee!!

Prayer request...My mom had a biopsy done on Wednesday to determine if she has breast cancer. There were 2 spots that they tested. She has an appointment Monday to find out the results. If you could take a minute to pray that everything comes back normal that would be so appreciated. I am not worried yet, just praying for the best!

We are headed to my dad's Hall of Fame induction tomorrow. We are so excited for him and so proud of his accomplishments! It should be a fun weekend and nice weather too! :)

Sick Little Boy

We had a rough weekend with Sawyer. It seems like he has been sick for the last 3 months. As soon as he gets over one thing it is on to another. I took him to the doctor this morning and he was diagnosed with Bronchitis in both of his lungs. The poor little guy is so miserable. Please say a prayer that the medicine works quickly and that he feels better soon! He is so sweet and cute, even when he is sick!
