Happy Birthday Stephenie!

This weekend we made a trip to St. Louis for Stephenie's (Chris's sister) Elvis Kareoke Birthday Party! It was great fun! Here are some cute pictures of us in our Elvis party glasses and Kareoke attire. (no, we did not sing, but had fun watching others!) :)

Brag Time

I am assuming that if you are reading this blog that means that you love me and my family and want to hear about our life. Therefore, I don't feel too bad about taking some time to brag about my son. :)
Last night we had our "Parents as Teachers" meeting where a teacher from Branson Schools comes to our house every couple months to evaluate Sawyer and do a fun activity with him. She was very pleased with his skills and said that there is nothing that he really needs to work on. He is right on track. Here is where the bragging part comes in. She just kept telling what a great kid we have and that we are very lucky. She was impressed with his language and social skills. She was impressed that he will go to his time out mat when he is in trouble and actually sit there until told to get up. She was impressed that he will pick up his toys and put them in the toy box and that if he makes a mess that he shouldn't make he will clean it up when told. She is always impressed at his ball throwing ability and now he can actually catch the ball as well. He does not just throw the football in the air aimlessly, he actually has form and can throw it with good accuracy. She was impressed that he can jump and get both of his feet off the ground. In fact, she said that he was only the second kid she has ever seen be able to do this before the age of 2. Yep, let's just say she was impressed.
Now I know she probably always likes to point out the good things to parents and make them feel proud. I guess it worked because I am very proud of Sawyer and I think he is the best little boy ever! Thanks for letting me brag a little. I know that you love him too! :)

Snow Day Fun

We had a blast playing in the snow this past week! It was so pretty and perfect for playing in. Sawyer loved riding around in the sled and going "weeeeee" down the hill. The dogs even joined in the fun. Here is a little documentation of the fun we had.

Assuming the Position

If you know my son at all you know that he LOVES to watch movies, especially if they include Elmo, Barney, or a Veggie Tale of some sort. We try to limit the amount of movies and TV he watches, but it is really hard when he is constantly asking for it. We have kind of started a new routine where we let him watch a movie for a little while before bedtime at night. It helps to calm him down before his bedtime routine and he is happy. He gets so excited when we say, "Do you want to watch a movie?" He runs into our bedroom, crawls into our bed, and assumes the position; covers pulled up, hands behind the head. He could probably stay in this position for hours if we let him, but we try to limit it to 20 minutes or so at night. I am hoping this will get him to realize that watching TV is a special treat and not an all the time occurence. We will see how it goes!
