Sippee Cups and MRIs
For the last few weeks I have been really worried that Sawyer would never give up the bottle and drink out of a sippee cup. In fact, just last night he wanted nothing to do with a sippee cup! Tonight was a different story! I gave him a sippee cup of formula after dinner and he drank it down! He even drank out of a sippee cup at bedtime with no problem and went right to sleep. I am really excited and really sad at the same time. This means that I won't have a problem weaning him off the bottle, but it also means that he is growing up so fast!
Another fun thing is that Sawyer has learned to say "hi" and "bye" this week! He doesn't do it a lot, but has said them both very clearly on numerous occasions. This has been a big week for him! :)
I got my MRI results back today and I don't have to have back surgery!! I have a bulging disc and as long as I take it easy and don't cause it to rupture it will eventually heal on it's own...yeah! Now for that "taking it easy" part, that is a lot harder than it sounds with an 11 month old terrorizing the house!! :)

Sawyer's new trick!
Sawyer's favorite thing to do right now is throw balls around the house and then go get them and throw them some more. It kind of reminds us of a dog playing fetch. I guess that would be very fitting considering his nickname is "sawdog". Yesterday he took this fun game to the next level. We found him in the guest bathroom (yes, this does seem to be where he gets into the most trouble) and he had pulled up on the toilet and he was looking down into the bowl. I wasn't quite sure what he was looking at until I got closer and found that he had thrown his ball into the toilet and was pondering how exactly he was going to "fetch" it out! It was really funny and now we know to put the lid down on the toilet so that we don't find him fishing in it the next time! :)
I posted an update about my mom on her caringbridge site if you want to check it out! www.caringbridge.org/visit/martihancock
I had an MRI friday to find out what is going on with my back. They said it might be the middle of next week before I get the results. I am not sure what takes so long, but that is what they said. It actually feels better today, but that is probably because I have been able to rest it more than usual. We will see! I really don't think it is anything serious, but I am anxious to get it healed all the same.
Sawyer is going to be one in 3 weeks...oh my! I can't even believe it! Does anyone know how to stop time so that he stays a baby forever? :)

MRI Scheduled
Just an update on my back...
I went to the doc yesterday and he put me on muscle relaxers and scheduled an MRI for Friday morning. I feel better, but am still in constant pain, which is not normal. Hopefully it is nothing serious and will get better soon! I need to be able to chase my little rug rat around the house again!

Standing Tall
Sawyer hit his next milestone! As of this weekend he can officially pull himself up to stand! His favorite place to do this is at the refrigerator. He loves pulling jars off the shelf! We also found him in the guest bathroom Sunday night after he had pulled up to the step stool and managed to unroll an entire roll of toilet paper onto the floor! It was pretty funny! Next step...walking! It might be awhile, but we are definitely getting closer! :)

Flat On My Back
Apparently God has a sense of humor! I prayed for rest and God answered my prayer a little more than I wanted! I strained my sciatic nerve and the doctor told me I have to lay flat on my back until at least Sunday! I can only get up to go to the bathroom! That is not quite what I had in mind when I asked for rest! Now I am just praying that I only have a strained sciatic because he said that it is possible that I might have slipped or ruptured a disk. If I don't feel better by Sunday I will get an MRI to find out. I know many of you are waiting to hear the exciting story about how I did this, but there is no story. I was sitting at my desk at work and went to stand up and the rest is history. That's it...no exciting story. So, until further notice, I will just be laying around!
