Adventures on Ice!
Our story begins yesterday at 3:30pm when we left work with hopes of heading home to snuggle for a couple of days. The roads seemed like they were starting to get slick, but it didn't look like we were going to have much trouble. We picked up Sawyer at daycare and headed north on 65 to our turnoff. We made it slowly and carefully and without much problem to Hwy 176. That is where the adventure began. We slid around the first curve and thought "this could be tricky." Then we got to the next big curve and saw a few cars stopped ahead of us. Chris, being the great driver that he is, decided we should pull into a gravel driveway and scope out what was happening ahead of us before trying to drive on. That was the smartest decision ever!! We sat in the driveway and watched the few cars grow to 15 and we literally watched a car slide right in front of us and smash head on into another car. It was like watching bumber cars, only not nearly as fun! We stayed there for about an hour hoping the call to 911 would result in a salt truck or some sort of rescue. That never happened so we decided to take a risk and try to get back to the highway. We drove in the ditch and through a field (literally) just to try to get to somewhere where my dad could rescue us. By the grace of God we made it to a parking lot just off Hwy 65 where my dad was able to come pick us up. After 3 hours, we let out a sigh of relief as we pulled into my parent's driveway. Sawyer was getting really tired of his carseat and our stomachs couldn't take much more stress and excitement. We have never been so happy to be safe and sound in a house!! Praise the Lord that we stopped where we did or we might be telling quite a different story today!
Videos
I haven't been very good at uploading videos of Sawyer lately so here are a few good ones! They consist of when he first started crawling, playing with his favorite toy, and playing Pat a Cake with mommy. Enjoy!

Groovin to the Music
We had a fun weekend at home with Sawyer. Friday night he was starting to feel better after being sick all week so we put him on the floor for some play time. Next thing we knew he was playing his favorite musical toy and dancing to the beat! It was so cute! Here is a video so you can check out his moves for yourself :)

This is all happening way too fast!
As you know Sawyer started crawling recently, however it was more like an army crawl and he wasn't getting up off the floor to do it. As of yesterday he is now up on all fours crawling around like a big boy. Not only that, he can also go from crawling to sitting and vice versa. He is totally independent and can get anywhere he wants to go without help. It is a nice relief when I am busy, but I am sad that he is growing up so fast. I will try to catch him on video this weekend. It is so cute!! :)

Check Up
Sawyer had his 9 month check up yesterday and all was well. He is still only in the 25th percentile for height, weight, and head size, but the doctor isn't worried. I am sure he will have a growth spurt and he is starting to fill out...he even has some rolls on his thighs!
The doctor was impressed that he was already saying "uh oh" and "daddy." Now we are trying to get him to master another new word, but it hasn't happened yet. This parenting thing is just so fun and exciting...every day is a new adventure! :)

Cruising in April!
We booked a cruise yesterday and I am so excited!! We leave April 18 and head to Ft Lauderdale where we will get on the boat and sail to Key West, Cayman Islands and Jamaica!! The only bad thing is that I have to leave Sawyer behind for a week...I don't think I am going to handle that well!

First "Real" Haircut
Last week we took Sawyer to get his first haircut (by a professional). He did pretty good, but got a little tired of it by the end. He looked like such a big boy!
Wilks Christmas
We spent last Thursday-Saturday with Chris's family and had tons of fun! We spent most of the time watching football, opening Christmas presents, shopping, and going to movies. Sawyer had so much fun opening more presents and playing with everyone. The best part was that he started crawling and everyone got to see it!
