Our little cookie monster

Today, unlike most days, I woke up and things were running smoothly. Sawyer woke up a little early, but he was in a good mood and cooperative. I actually had time to fix my hair and put on makeup, which is a rare occurance these days! I was feeling really good as I loaded him in the car and we headed into town, ahead of schedule. He wanted to eat crackers on the way to the sitter's so I gave him some. Next thing I know I hear loud crunching sounds and giggling. I turn around to see Sawyer holding his cracker with both hands and crushing it into his mouth like Cookie Monster eats cookies. He was having a blast and cracker crumbs were flying everywhere. By the time we got to the sitters there were crumbs all over the back seat, in his hair, in my hair, covering his face and clothes, and all over the floor. He thought it was great! I was not quite as amused, but still got a little chuckle out of it. We took some time to clean him up before taking him inside, but he was still a mess when his sitter saw him. She gave him a "wiper" bath and he was good to go. My car, on the other hand, took a little more work. I got myself and my car presentable again and headed into work, 30 minutes late. Ugh! The funny thing is that I just got a text message from his sitter saying "Sawyer is running around in his daiper while his clothes are in the wash. He ate lunch like a cookie monster too!" ha ha ha ha ha, all I can do is laugh at my little buddy! :)

Surprise!

Last weekend we had a fun little surprise party for my Dad's 60th birthday. There was a great turnout and he had so much fun telling stories and reminiscing. It was such an honoring and special time!

2 is coming fast!

Wow, I am amazed at the fact that my baby is turning 2 next month! I am also amazed at the fact that he is potty training himself without us even trying! He has gone multiple times on the potty and last night he went in there and tried to go without my help...what a big boy! :)

Now there is a part of 2 that I am not looking forward to, the terrible part. We have seen a glimpse of that a few times recently, hopefully he is just teasing us (as my aunt Becky said)!

My baby doesn't look like a baby anymore

These pictures say it all. Sawyer is getting so big and changing from a baby into a little man. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. I don't want him to grow up but it is so fun to see him in this stage of life, learning new things all the time and figuring out how to do things on his own. He is always coming up with silly things to say and is always entertaining us and amazing us. Just last night we were at dinner and the lady was going around the table asking for drink orders and he shouts out as clear as can be, "I want tea!" Everyone laughed and he just looked at them like, "What? That is what I want to drink!" ha ha. So, he drank tea with his meal :)

Sweet moments of motherhood

Motherhood has been full of very sweet moments, but I think the moment I had with Sawyer last night was the sweetest yet. We had gone to dinner with my family for Eric's birthday and Chris was headed to play a basketball game so Sawyer and I headed home, just the 2 of us. When we got there it was close to bedtime already so I got him in his jammies and asked if he wanted to watch a little Barney before bed. He said yes of course so I tucked him into my bed and turned on the movie. I hadn't even pushed play yet when I heard the sweet little voice, "momma, momma." I said, "what buddy?" Sawyer goes on to pat the pillow next to him and say, "lay down." He wanted me to lay by him to watch the movie, how could I refuse? So I curled up in bed next to him and watched Barney. After I layed down he scooted close to me and put his arm around my neck, pulling me close and kissing my cheek. Wow, all of the sudden every stress, worry, or heartache in life was melted away by this sweet little boy. I love him so much and look forward to many more sweet moments of motherhood.

Sesame Street Live Starring....MELMO!!! :)

Saturday was probably the best day of Sawyer's almost 2 year old life! His Aunt Barbara bought him tickets to see Sesame Street Life for his Christmas present and we went Saturday night to see Elmo and his friends. (Sawyer calls him Melmo, and he is totally obsessed with him!!!!) He was in awe when all the characters came out and he just sat and watched the whole first half, not really making any expressions, and not taking his eyes off the stage. Towards innermission he started dancing in his seat a little and realizing what was really going on. He seemed a little worried when they left the stage for a break and he anxiously awaited the show to start back up. He played with some kids and his new sesame street ball until the music started back again. He was very excited and sang and danced through the whole second half. He even cried when it was over because he loved it so much. I am pretty sure that Barb and I had as much fun as him, but I didn't watch a lot of the show. I mostly watched Sawyer and loved seeing him so excited. It was a blast! Thank you SO MUCH Barbara!!!!!

Here is Sawyer dancing and marching along to the Parade song-We had amazing seats right below the stage, the characters came right up to Sawyer and he wasn't scared at all!

Here is the final song. Sawyer kept waving bye whenever Elmo was not on stage, like he wanted the other characters to leave and Elmo to come back. He was always asking for Elmo when he wasn't there. It was really cute. Then at the end when he realized bye meant the show was over he got really sad. Hopefully they will bring the show again so we can take Sawyer back! :)

Skyping at the age of 1

Sawyer is definitely growing up in a "technology era." He is not even 2 and he is already skyping weekly with his Aunt Barbara! It is so funny to watch him. One night he even sat in his high chair and ate his dinner while skyping for an hour! He just talks and sings and plays peek a boo. It is so cute! (oh and as you can tell by the pictures, Sawyer really likes stickers! He loves putting them all over his and my face)
